Get the most out of OpenOffice
OOO Extras is a free software utility that enables you to store classic OpenOffice dependencies that can’t easily be redistributed. This program is a set of extra tools for OpenOffice under weak copyleft license or any other licenses. It was previously meant for TAR archive files but you can now use it to mirror file dependencies in order to help in configuring the open-source productivity software.
Don’t worry about other files
OpenOffice.org (OOo)—commonly known as OpenOffice—is a discontinued open-source office suite. It was an open-sourced version of the earlier StarOffice, which Sun Microsystems acquired in 1999 for internal use. It eventually gained active successor projects in the form of Apache OpenOffice (AOO), LibreOffice, and NeoOffice—all of which are still open-source programs that offer the full functionalities of OOo’s office productivity software suite.
However, while such projects are much more flexible in development, there are still some small but important files that can’t be transferred so easily in the programs’ source trees—most especially in Apache’s. Fortunately, you can use OOO Extras to do so. This tool functions as a storage space for OOo dependencies not easily redistributed in Apache OpenOffice's Source tree.
This tool also has free fonts, programming libraries, repositories, and more. However, they aren’t packaged into one file. You will have to visit this program’s online directory in order to get the type of file you want. Fortunately, this is actively maintained and developed so you can keep coming back to see if they’ve added new files that may be useful to you.
A bit of a hassle
All in all, OOO Extras offers lots of options for anyone using OpenOffice.org projects. Unlike other packaged tools, however, this one doesn’t have all of its files together in one ZIP file. You will have to browse its directory and find the file you’re in need of. Other than this, though, this is a nice program to use for OpenOffice software.
